Treat Aging Hands with Restylane® Lyft and Radiesse®

Searching for an anti-aging hand treatment in Fort Worth, TX? Look no further! As people age, their hands tend to show the signs of time. Wrinkles, thinning skin, and loss of volume to the tissue in the hands can make them look older than they really are. This can be especially hard on women who put a lot of value on looking youthful and beautiful. Fortunately, there are plenty of options out there that can be used to help restore those wrinkles and thinning skin while restoring volume and fullness to aging hands. We're going to review two dermal filler products that are FDA approved for use on your 🤚🏼 hands.

What causes the aging appearance of hands?

As we age, our skin begins to lose elasticity and collagen. This results in sagging, which can also happen after weight gain or loss. The face is the most common area of concern when it comes to wrinkles and other signs of aging, but the next most common area is the hands. We tend to see more wrinkle formation on our hands than on other areas of our body because they’re constantly exposed to the sun and they get a lot of wear and tear from life in general. Perpetual hand washing, injuries, and even just working with your hands can make them look older, and faster. The skin on the hands also thins quicker than other areas of the body, and the loss of fat is more visible in this area since there's less fat to lose. So, how can that youthful appearance be restored in your hands? There are a couple of options when it comes to dermal fillers.

What is Radiesse®?

Radiesse is an injectable filler used to restore volume to the face and other areas, giving you a more youthful appearance. The product is made with synthetic calcium hydroxyapatite, which is formed from cow’s bone—and it has been approved by the FDA for use on the skin and the back of the hands. Because Radiesse provides natural-looking results without requiring surgical procedures, it’s become quite popular among patients looking to rejuvenate their aging hands. As with any other injectable filler, Radiesse carries some risks—but it also comes with an excellent safety record in clinical trials.

What Is Restylane® Lyft?

Restylane Lyft is another dermal filler used to correct wrinkles on various parts of your body. Unlike other injectable fillers, Like Radiesse®, Restylane® Lyft is made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that's naturally found in your skin to keep it hydrated. Unlike other fillers, it contains no animal products. When injected into specific parts of your face or body, Restylane Lyft adds volume and lifts sagging skin by filling in creases and improving overall facial contours. When injected into aging hands, it adds volume under the skin to reduce the appearance of veins, bones, tendons, and wrinkles.

What are the benefits of Radiesse® for aging hands?

One of the major benefits of Radiesse over Restylane Lyft, particularly as evidenced in one trial, is that it was found to be more effective at restoring a youthful look to the hands. The same trial found that less Radiesse was needed to produce the same results as Restylane Lyft, and Radiesse gave longer-lasting results overall. Radiesse is also superior to Restylane in its ability to boost collagen production. The calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in the formula stimulate production where Restylane Lyft does not.

What are the benefits of Restylane® Lyft for aging hands?

One of the main benefits of Restylane Lyft is that it tends to be more affordable than Radiesse per dose. For many patients, this is a big selling factor. Another big plus for Restylane Lyft is that it contains no animal products, unlike Radiesse. For this reason, many doctors prefer to use it instead of Radiesse when treating patients with allergies or with religious/dietary restrictions. Finally, Restylane Lyft, when used for aging hands, is available in a variety of doses, from .1 to 1.0ml, which allows for customized treatments that best meet the needs of each patient. Radiesse comes in only one dose—1.0ml—and often requires multiple syringes for optimal results.

Which treatment is right for me? Radiesse® or Restylane® Lyft?

If you're ready to restore that youthful glow to your aging hands, you may be wondering which dermal filler is right for you. If your hands are just starting to show signs of aging, Restylane Lyft may be a perfectly adequate treatment for you. It's a great choice if you're just starting out with your anti-aging treatments, particularly if you would like to spend a little less money. Restylane Lyft is also the superior option for you if you have certain allergies or if you have a belief system that restricts you from using dermal fillers that contain animal products. Radiesse, however, will likely be a better option if the degree of aging on your hands is more prominent. You'll see better results that will last a bit longer, but you may pay a bit more for the treatment.
